Another Avery Dennison price increase

In an October 9th note from Avery Dennison, we were informed that they are raising prices on their base material by 7% to 8%. This is effective November 17, 2008. JH Bertrand will do it's best to absorb most of this as we are doing our best to keep prices stable. We appreciate all our customer's continued loyalty and support.

Base material supplier Fasson increases prices by 7%

One of JH Bertrand's major suppliers is Fasson. They make the base pressure sensitive materials that we convert into booklet labels. On July 21, 2008, Fasson will increase its prices by 7%. Not to worry, however. Since booklet labels are more expensive than a single ply label, this shouldn't make a huge difference to price per thousand of a booklet label.

Proposed Wisconsin recycling bill could eliminate some great adhesives

Wisconsin is considering a proposal to impose a state-wide mandate against the use of pressure sensitive adhesives that are not recycling friendly. TLMI sent out this letter to its member converters saying that they do not support the state wide mandate because it would negatively impact the converting industry. The worry is that if this bill passes into law, it could spread to other states and possibly the federal government creating a huge problem for everyone who uses pressure sensitive adhesive.
